Chess Club Sibling
Register here for your Chess Club sibling student. Orders are due by 9/20/2019.
The Washington Chess Club will be continuing this Fall for Washington students to have fun and increase their Chess knowledge and skills. Join us on Fridays at lunch from 10/4 through 12/13 (a 10 week session) for Chess instruction from our outside vendor Chess-Ed. The cost of Chess Club is $134 for your first student, $121 for siblings. Registration will be only via the Washington PTO Website (www.washingtopto.org) and registration will be closed on Friday, September 20th.
Students eat their lunch as an instructor from Chess-Ed teaches an interactive lesson. After the lesson, the students play chess with each other, applying the lessons they learned – under the watchful and instructive eye of the Chess-Ed instructor.
We encourage families to pack their student a lunch and drink during Chess Club Fridays rather than participate in Quest’s Hot Lunch program. Due to our inability to transport Hot Lunch throughout the school, students who are planning to eat Quest’s Hot Lunch program on Fridays during Chess will need to eat in their assigned time in the Lunchroom. Before and/or after they eat, they can return to the Chess classroom.
Note that packed lunches must always be Peanut, Nut and Nut Product Free.
Scholarships are available for students. Please contact Washington’s Principal, Mrs. Brito, if this is a need for your student.
Come and see what the excitement is all about. There are many benefits to Chess instruction for elementary students, including having a great time playing the game. Check out the article “The Brainy Benefits of Chess” which appeared in Parent’s Magazine and can be found online at: http://www.parents.com/kids/development/intellectual/benefits-of-chess/
